If you need to have a conversation about a problem at home, it helps to try and do without all the emotion and drama. Sometimes it may just be easier to write it all down and give it to them instead.  Here are some ideas on how to do that:

  1. Pick a time when you’re feeling less upset about the problem
  2. Write down what the problem is, it might take a few goes
  3. Try and explain how it makes you feel
  4. List the issues that it causes you (like avoiding things or ignoring people)
  5. Try and make a suggestion about what you would like to happen
  6. Think of a change you could make to help
  7. Check your message doesn’t blame anyone or get too personal
  8. Give it to your parents when they aren’t busy or about to leave the whare/house.
