Who is responsible for The Lowdown?

The Lowdown is a digital channel created by and managed by the part of Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand that's responsible for health promotion activities.To provide visitors with support it has partnered with Whakarongorau, which provides national telehealth services including The Lowdown’s 24 hour free helpline.

Personal and health information collected via the 24hour free helpline

If you use the 24 hour free helpline linked to from The Lowdown channel you'll speak directly to health care professionals at Whakarongorau.Those phone calls are recorded.

Whakarongorau will collect, use and store the information you share with it in the ways described in its own privacy statement.

This includes keeping a record of your interactions with it, and potentially sharing information about you with emergency services or health care professionals if it thinks you, or someone else, is at risk of harm.

Personal information collected via The Lowdown website

The Lowdown online channel does not currently collect any personal or health information from visitors.

It does collect data to analyse, evaluate, and improve the website but this data is not identifiable.

Your privacy rights

You can ask for a copy of the information Whakarongorau holds about you and request correction of it if you think it is wrong. To do this use the email address provided in its privacy statement.
